Taskforce Update - September

Dear Colleagues, We have a lot of activity happening behind the scenes that I would like to keep you informed about. Much of this is captured in the revised work plan that Liz will post and grant you all access to in the near future. At this point, we are completing the key informant interviews with 30 opinion leaders in the organization representing volunteers and employees. The results of these interviews will be available through a summary report in time for our October meeting. A review of internal & external best practices is also underway along with the planning of the nationwide volunteer survey. All of this is to say that we will have some very good background information available to guide our discussions and planning as we go forward. The plan is for the Task Force to distill the strategic priorities from all this information and make recommendations on future directions. We will test these recommendations with the Advisory Committee to make sure we get the strategy right. For now, members of staff and the task force have some of the heavy lifting at the front end. In the coming weeks, we will be sending you an E-Book entitled the Abundant Not-for-Profit to challenge our assumptions of volunteer engagement from the perspective of other organizations. I found it to be a very good read that really opened my thinking on new possibilities. I asked Liz to purchase copies for you so that we can discuss the transformational change process that is described in this book. This is all for now.
